Artist Statement:  Joyotee is a Singaporean artist, of Indian descent. Her art reflects her multicultural background. A free spirited and spiritual being, her greatest motivation is to create uninhibitedly   

 

Joyotee Speaks: My life has been an exploration of my own mind & body and the world I inhabit while exploring it through art. It is an ongoing journey. How and where it will culminate, I know not. However, it’s this journey that makes it worthwhile. So, join me and let’s celebrate art and life

 

Highlights

  • Presented the Online exhibition, The Womb of the Covid, curated by Dr Gauri Pariboo Krishnan, supported by National Arts Council's, Digital Promotion Grant, 2020 as part of #SGCULTUREANYWHERE

  • Curated Foraged Roots, an exhibition for four artists, two of who are my students. Planned and executed their exhibition over a 5-month period guiding their final exhibit and display. Exhibition was well received, May 2018

  • Moderated a panel discussion with reputed artists like Thota Vaikuntham, Jogen Chowdhury, Paresh Maity, Jaysree Burman and Neeraj Goswami at the Kala Sutra Exhibition brought to Arts House, Singapore by the Sanchit Gallery, New Delhi, May 2013

Murals

  • Led and Curated the mural, The River Flows,  commissioned by Singapore River One, at Circular Road, which was part of Singapore Art Week, 11th to 19th Jan 2020

    • The mural is a permanent exhibit at the backlanes of Circular Road from January 2020. Co-artists were Paroma Ray and Nivedita Kesavan

  • Curated and created group to execute and implement a Nature inspired mural as a service initiative for the NParks, at Sungei Buloh Nature Reserve, January, 2018

  • Successfully bid and won the tender for a 10-metre mural for the Shree Narayana Mission Singapore, with co-artist Maya Bhalla. This was a history mural recording 67 years of the mission’s growth. The wall was inaugurated by Minister K Shanmugam (Minister of Law & Foreign Affairs), August 2015

  • Championed and led a group of seven other artists to create a kitchen mural for the Sri Narayana Mission Old Age Home in Yishun, 6th to 12th Jun 2014

  • Championed decorating the Meranti Home, in the Pelangi Village, to give a more colourful stay, for the residents. Designed and completed wall mural in the courtyard of the Home, November 2009
